MEMORY MARKET
Short movie

Synopsis: "Memory Market" is a short film that tells the story of Kia, who struggles with the monotony of his isolated life. His life is dedicated solely to preserving his job in the AI era, with the constant threat of unemployment, and improving his financial status. He is highly dependent on artificial intelligence, which only exacerbates his loneliness and highlights the impact of technology on human connections. The film delves into the consequences of a life dominated by routine. Kia's only escape is his rooftop retreat, where he seeks solace in social media photos of his friends.
Artificial intelligence attempts to break the monotony by suggesting personalized packages based on his interests. The narrative takes a dark turn as it proposes pills to simulate missed experiences, prompting reflection on the authenticity of such shortcuts. With minimal dialogue and a deliberately low-contrast visual style, "Memory Market" tries to portray Kia's mundane existence, devoid of excitement. The film serves as a reflection on society's increasing dependence on technology, the pursuit of financial success, and the potential emptiness that may result.
Inspiration: "Memory Market" draws inspiration from a personal experience with a friend diagnosed with grade 4 cancer. This experience sparked thought about unfulfilled life experiences and the idea of fulfilling the unmet desires of people who have had no time or chance to pursue their dreams.

Themes and Invitations: "Memory Market" reflects my exploration of the intersection of technology, human connections, and the pursuit of a meaningful life. I hope it inspires viewers to consider life as a short and fleeting experience, and to pursue their desires without hesitation.

Throughout the project, challenges arose due to noise from construction and the nearby school. Despite waiting for improved conditions, difficulties persisted, resulting in the unfortunate loss of all our sound files despite our preparations.
To address this, I took the initiative to independently dub the entire movie and recorded ambient sounds separately, successfully breathing life into the project.
Moreover, I sought assistance from one of my native English-speaking friends, Martin, to refine the dialogue delivery. Much of our collaboration focused on perfecting the mood, tone, and emphasis when conveying the dialogues. Coordinating our schedules demanded considerable effort. Furthermore, to enhance synchronization, I strategically edited scenes to ensure minimal instances portrayed movement of the character's lips during his Persian speech.

2D Drawing Animation
Res:1920*1080, AR: 16:9  Runtime:02:30   Genre: Drama
Synopsis: The animation narrates the struggles of an overweight boy as he grapples to identify the root cause of his condition. Persistent judgment and pressure from family, society, and social media surround him. In an attempt to address his issues with overeating and involuntary eating, he turns to fat-burning pills. I sought to capture the impulsive decisions that follow episodes of overeating through visual storytelling.
Finally, he reaches a point of deep frustration with the world around him and with himself. In an attempt to take control of the situation, he unfortunately resorts to self-harm.
Themes and Invitations: The animation portrays the emotions of self-discontent and shame experienced by individuals with weight issues due to their own mistakes and behaviors. It emphasizes the need for society to provide a safe and supportive environment for people with vulnerabilities. The protagonist's resorting to self-harm adds a layer of complexity, highlighting the often-overlooked emotional turmoil accompanying such problems. The animation aims to create a detailed portrayal of physical and mental health issues, encouraging a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by individuals dealing with them.
Production Details: In the initial drafts, the animation had more frames, but I opted to discard a significant portion during revisions to enhance its effectiveness. The deliberate use of intense music aims to underscore the boy's emotions, expressing internal agitation at moments where frustration and discontent might be palpable.

ANTENNA
3D Animation
Res:1920*1080, AR: 16:9   Runtime:03:00
Genre: "Antenna" is a 3D animated drama that seamlessly blends fantasy with slice-of-life elements.

Synopsis: This animation starts by tracing life's journey from childhood innocence to the wisdom of old age, focusing on an elderly woman grappling with the challenges of living alone in a bustling city.
The animation revolves around the old woman and her vintage TV. The narrative takes a unique twist as it enters the old woman's house, which is adorned with everyday items placed unconventionally and becomes a symbol of the eccentricities that come with aging. When her vintage TV displays are static, a determined effort happens to restore a clear picture. The old woman attempts to fix the TV, by giving directions, creating an interaction between her and the vintage TV. As the conflict resolves and the TV displays a clear picture, the animation takes an unexpected turn. The camera climbs to the rooftop, revealing the wind rotating and the antenna fixing itself miraculously, emphasizing the loneliness and delusional behavior of the lonely woman.
Production Details: "Antenna" was mostly created by myself, using 3D Max, Sketchup, Lumion, and Premier Pro in a collaborative effort. This was my first exploration into the different stages of animation creation.
Themes and Invitations: "Antenna" tries to delve into the emotional nuances of solitude, inviting viewers to contemplate the challenges faced by individuals living alone. As a reminder of the importance of human connections in navigating life's intricacies.

My first time trying 3D animation posed a challenge as the software I knew didn't let me control the movements of the elderly woman character. She could only walk and lacked expressions. To overcome this limitation, I opted for a solution by incorporating multiple cuts and point-of-view shots in the animation.

Boomerang is an experimental short film that was shot entirely at home using only a mobile phone. The film explores the transformative power of altruism. The story revolves around a protagonist who, with minimal resources, assists a friend in delivering a vital project through the art of painting. "Boomerang" emphasizes the unexpected rewards that unfold from genuine acts of kindness. Despite limited resources, I was eager to make this film and showcase the creative choices and storytelling that can be achieved with the available resources.
